Abbiamo atteso qualcosa come sei anni, tanti quanti ne ha impiegato questo project a diventare realtà: ma ne è valsa la pena. Aldo Giuntini è un chitarrista cha ha mosso i primi passi all’inizio della scorsa decade ma, alla fine, ha deciso di partire con questa band, cercando le persone adatte e trovandole. In primis nel singer Charles Bowyer, londinese. Cosi ecco “Vol. I”, un heavy rock con contatti nell’Aor, nel rock di classe, suonato ottimamente da una band preparatissima. dove la sei corde di Aldo può giostrare e divertirsi come vuole. dai riff ai buoni solos. È subito elettricità sin dall’iniziale “The Price of Love” al crescendo di Make Me Feel So Good.
In ogni song, comunque, il tocco in più lo dà proprio Aldo con il suo gusto musica le di assoli veloci e melodici.
La malmsteeniana “When The Dream Has Died” è forse il brano più intenso dell’album.
Inoltre, tre strumentali come l’inquietante e cadenzata “2099”, “Diablo Plays Bach” elegante omaggio a Johann Sebastian, e l’altrettanto bella “S.W.”. Registrato benissimo, senza sbavature particolari. questo primo volume è un lavoro di sicura caratura europea, sicuramente uno dei migliori lavori mai concepiti in Italia. E se proprio vogliamo trovare un difetto grave diciamo che Aldo è tifoso dell’inter: ognuno ha le sue colpe! (fm)
The Story
Beginning his career playing in Italy based progressive rock band Cryin’ Earth, Italian guitarist Aldo Giuntini left in 1984 in order to pursue a solo career. After meeting fellow guitarist and sound engineer Dario Mollo in 1988, Giuntini began working in earnest on an album under the name Giuntini Project. The next two years were spent writing and rehearsing material, during which time he was approached by English producer Kit Woolven, who had been impressed by early demos and produced the album along with Mollo. It was another two years before Charles Bowyer was enlisted into the band as a singer and the band’s first, self-titled album was finally released in 1993.
In 1995, work commenced on a follow-up album, with former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin taking over vocal duties. Giuntini Project II was released in 1999, again produced by Woolven and Mollo. It was during the recording of this album that Martin and Mollo began work on their own project “The Cage”. Seven years later, Giuntini and Martin reunited to record Giuntini Project III, once again produced by Mollo and released on 28 April 2006. A fourth album, Giuntini Project IV, was released on May 2013.
